The Next Step

Illustration by Andrea Elovson, from The Kindergarten Survival Handbook Most schools have a Kindergarten visiting day before classes start.

They send out invitations to the parents of children who will be entering Kindergarten the next school year.

Going to this visiting day is a good way to begin.

If you miss that first visiting day meeting, you can phone the school and leave a message that you want to know about the next one. The teacher will appreciate it very much.

A short note or phone call to ask about how your child is doing, or to let the teacher know if there's anything special happening at home, will be very much appreciated.

When there's a good connection between parents and school,
EVERYONE BENEFITS.

Your child will do better,
you will learn about how parents can be the most
important people in their children's success at school,
and the teacher can do a better job.
So, you see, even after your child enters school,
the help you can give is not over.

Both your child and his or her teacher depend on you for the kind of help only you can give,
because...

YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON
IN YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION.
